To begin the day, I got up a 5:30!!! I can see those raised eyebrows and astonishing looks, but trust me people, it was an ordeal and I was almost done convincing myself that the whole 'early morning Lodhi garden trip' idea was not worth sacrificing my precious sleep hours but thanks to Anushree who called up to confirm the plan and sealed the deal for me, then and there. We made good time and reached Lodhi Garden(walking the last km or so) at 7:15. Called up Jo, who was still blissfully asleep, to step up the gas and come. No sooner had we taken a dozen or so steps, that wham, we run into Anu's friends Rohit and Srijan(there's another namesake with a slightly different spelling but I still dunno who's who despite the lengthy description Anu gave). They were eating into precious 'bird' watching time as far as I was concerned and I had already started cursing them. But to my delight, I discovered that Anu too was eager to part ways with them (she explained her reason later). We did manage to lose them soon enough and then started our journey into the famed Lodhi Gardens. I had been here before so knew what to expect and Anu too loved the place. Anu, the bookworm she is, sat down with a book(sigh, Coelho it was) while I was clicking away to glory. Jo reached soon enough and I was fortunate enough to discover a group of 'hot hot' firangs doing Yoga! Man, I was totally in love with this place now. Choosing a strategic position, I enjoyed the 'view' for a long time, all the while pretending that I was so paying attention to whatevero Jo and Anu were saying ;).
The name of 'All American Diner' had come up while we were on our way to Lodhi Gardens and I, the food-buff-cum-glutton that I am, had already made up my mind to have breakfast there. Jo, was already fluttering with joy, when she was told of this. The breakfast did not disappoint us and it was totally worth the wait time. Yes, they did take their own sweet time and I could see the smile vanishing from Jo's face, which could mean one thing and one thing only, Jo was getting pissed. And when Jo is pissed, all I can say is that you should(autowallahs especially) keep safe distance. The waiter got the message and served us with immediate effect. Bagels, French toast, scrambled egg, poached egg, hash brown potato, American corn, baked-beans-on-toast, pancake, chicken sausages, it was a spread alright and we relished every morsel that went in. We left the diner with filled tummies and satisfied hearts.
While Jo went home for a nap, Anu and me left for CP to finish some chores. En route we decided, at the spur of the moment, to get down at India Gate. Later we realised this to be not that great an idea coz the place was swarming with Municipal Boys High School students. For the the first time in my life I was hooted at but suprisingly, I did not blush and did not mind it much. It was quite an experience though. I did manage to get a couple of good snaps of the Gate, though it was very foggy. We also had to ask which way India Gate was since the area was so foggy, we did not know in which direction to head.
I'll fast forward the uninteresting parts that followed for all. We went to MTNL/BSNL office.....new card for Anu at BCL......1650 bucks for a Nokia cover, too much....love that girl's smile(this one's interesting but let's skip it anyways, blush). Left CCD reluctantly but we had to make it for the movie in time. Anu managed to squeeze in time to buy 6 books and a Zakir Hussain CD(the deal was a steal, trust me). We reached Fun Cinemas, right in time for the movie. Binny and Aruni were late, courtesy Binny I was told and which did not surprise me(sorry Binny but your history is against you here).
The movie 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani', was a ride alright. It swinged from the bring-tears-in-your-eyes hilarious to the 'what-the-fuck-was that' chutyaap. I enjoyed the film overall, it was a more paisa-vasool film than Wake Up Sid for me(I know many would object to that) but what the hell, the movie did have some extremely funny situational comedy with amazing comic timing by the actors. My favourite would be the sequence where Prem's mom is trying to stall for time to prevent Prem's father to go for a bath and find Jenny there. Laughed my head off to this one. The metro ride home was totally forgettable (I'm can see Anu and Jo nodding there heads in approval!). Oh, I forgot the tea break we had en route to the Metro Station. The tea was nice and it was after a long time that Aruni and I had a 'chai adda time' .
The day was so fullfilling, that it made a lazy bum like me, write a blog entry. Here's thanking all that were part of this day and who actually made this day so memorable for me. Cheers guys. God bless all!
